Overview

AutoHunt is a car spotting and collection app designed to help automotive enthusiasts track and identify vehicles they encounter. This policy explains what data we collect and how we protect your privacy. AutoHunt is built with a privacy-first approach: your car collection data stays on your device.

Data Collection

Data We Collect

Car Photos: When you photograph a car, that image is stored locally on your device using iOS's secure SwiftData framework. Photos are not uploaded to any server unless you explicitly choose to share them through iOS sharing features.

Car Collection Data: Information about cars you've spotted (make, model, year, notes, spot location) is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This data remains private and never leaves your device.

Optional Location Data: If you grant location permission, AutoHunt can tag where you spotted a car. This location data is stored locally alongside the spot record. We do not track your location in the background or transmit it to any server.

Camera Access: We use your device camera only when you actively choose to photograph a car. We do not access your camera in the background or without your explicit action.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not upload your car photos to any server
• We do not transmit your collection data externally
• We do not track your location beyond optional spot tagging (stored locally only)
• We do not collect your email, name, or contact information
• We do not use analytics or tracking services
• We do not create user profiles for advertising

Third-Party Services

Apple Services: AutoHunt uses the following Apple services:

• StoreKit: For in-app purchases and premium feature unlocking. Apple processes payment information according to their privacy policy.
• iCloud (Optional): If you enable iCloud sync in iOS Settings, your collection data may sync across your Apple devices via your private iCloud account. This is entirely optional and controlled by you.

No Other Services: AutoHunt does not use:

• Cloud storage providers
• Analytics platforms
• Advertising networks
• Social media integrations
• AI processing services

Data Storage & Security

Local Storage: All car photos and collection data are stored locally on your device using SwiftData, Apple's modern data persistence framework. This data is encrypted using iOS's built-in device encryption when you have a passcode enabled.

iCloud Sync (Optional): If you enable iCloud for AutoHunt in iOS Settings, your collection data syncs securely via your private iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

No Cloud Servers: We do not operate any cloud servers or databases that store your data.

Permissions

Camera: Required to photograph cars. Only accessed when you tap the camera button. You can revoke this permission in iOS Settings at any time.

Photo Library: Optional permission to save car photos to your Photos library if you choose. Only accessed when you explicitly save or export photos.

Location (Optional): Used only for tagging spot locations if you grant permission. We do not track your location continuously or in the background. You can deny this permission and still use all core features of the app.

Your Rights

• All your data is on your device. You can delete individual spots, photos, or your entire collection at any time from within the app.
• You can disable iCloud sync to keep data strictly local.
• You can revoke camera or location permissions in iOS Settings.
• You can delete the app to remove all data permanently.

Data Retention

• Data is retained on your device until you delete it or delete the app.
• If you use iCloud sync, data remains in your iCloud account according to Apple's retention policies until you delete it or disable sync.

Children's Privacy

AutoHunt is suitable for users of all ages, including children under 13. Since we collect no personal information and all data stays on the device, there are minimal privacy concerns. Parents should be aware that the app uses the camera and may request location access.

Sharing Features

Manual Sharing Only: You can choose to share car photos or collection data using iOS's built-in sharing features (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, etc.). When you share, you control what is shared and with whom. We do not automatically share or sync your data with anyone.

International Users

AutoHunt works the same everywhere in the world. Since all data stays on your device, there are no international data transfer issues.

Advertising and Tracking

We do not display ads. We do not track you. We do not sell your data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated through the app if possible.
