Kyrn is a gamified fitness app that transforms your real-world workouts into character progression and adventures. This policy explains our commitment to protecting your health and fitness data privacy. Your workout data and health information remain private and secure on your device.
Fitness and Workout Data: All workout sessions, exercise logs, fitness metrics, and activity data you enter are stored locally on your device using SwiftData, Apple's secure data persistence framework. This data never leaves your device.
Character Progression Data: Your in-game character stats, levels, achievements, equipment, and game progress are stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to any server.
HealthKit Data (Optional): If you grant permission, Kyrn can read fitness and health data from Apple Health (HealthKit) to automatically track workouts and update your character. This data is accessed locally on your device and is never transmitted to any server.
No Account Required: Kyrn does not require account creation. There is no email, username, or password to manage.
Your workout and health data never leaves your device. Kyrn operates entirely offline (except for optional StoreKit purchases). Your fitness information remains private, secure, and under your complete control.

Local Storage: All fitness data and character progression are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This data is encrypted using iOS's built-in device encryption when you have a passcode enabled.
HealthKit Security: HealthKit data is managed by iOS and is encrypted. Kyrn accesses only the data types you explicitly authorize (typically workouts, active energy, steps, exercise minutes).
iCloud Sync (Optional): If you enable iCloud for Kyrn in iOS Settings, your workout and character data syncs securely via your private iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
No Cloud Servers: We do not operate any cloud servers or databases that store your fitness information.
HealthKit (Optional): Required only if you want to automatically sync workouts from Apple Health. You can deny this permission and manually log workouts instead. You control which specific data types Kyrn can read and write through iOS Settings.
Notifications (Optional): Used only to send you motivational reminders or achievement notifications. Managed by iOS and can be disabled in Settings.
No Other Permissions: Kyrn does not request access to your camera, location, contacts, microphone, or other device features.
How It Works: Kyrn uses your workout data to level up your character, unlock equipment, and progress through adventures. All game mechanics are powered by your real fitness activities. The more you work out, the stronger your character becomes.
Privacy-Friendly Design: Unlike many fitness apps with social features, Kyrn keeps your journey private. There are no leaderboards, no social sharing requirements, and no pressure to expose your fitness data to others.
Kyrn is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since all data stays on the device, there are minimal privacy concerns. Parents should supervise children's use of fitness tracking apps and ensure appropriate workout intensity.
Manual Sharing Only: You can choose to share achievements or workout summaries using iOS's built-in sharing features (Messages, social media, etc.). When you share, you control what is shared and with whom. We do not automatically share your fitness data.
Screenshot Sharing: You can take screenshots of your character or achievements to share. These screenshots are generated locally and contain only the information visible on screen.
Not a Medical Device: Kyrn is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. It is a gamified fitness tracking tool designed for motivation and entertainment.
Exercise Safely: Always consult with a healthcare professional before starting a new fitness program. Listen to your body and exercise within your capabilities.
Kyrn works the same everywhere in the world. Since all data stays on your device, there are no international data transfer issues.
We do not display ads. We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell your fitness data under any circumstances.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Given Kyrn's privacy-first design (no data collection), significant changes to our core privacy model are unlikely.
We are considering open-sourcing Kyrn to provide full transparency about how your fitness data is handled. Contact us if you're interested in reviewing the code.
