Nytely is a bedtime story generator app that uses AI to create personalized stories for children. This policy explains what data we collect, how we protect your child's privacy, and your rights as a parent or guardian. We take children's privacy extremely seriously and have designed Nytely to minimize data collection while providing magical bedtime stories.
COPPA Compliance: Nytely is designed for children and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
What Information We Collect from Children:
Parental Control: Parents and guardians have full control over account creation and app usage. We encourage parents to supervise their children's use of Nytely.
Story Prompts: When you create a bedtime story, the prompts you provide (character names like "Emma," themes like "dragons and castles," settings) are sent to OpenAI's API for story generation. We do not store these prompts on our servers. OpenAI processes them according to their privacy policy and API data usage terms, which prohibit using API data to train models.
Authentication Data: If you create an account, Firebase Authentication stores the parent/guardian's email address and authentication credentials. This is used solely for account management and login.
Story History: Generated stories may be saved locally on your device so your child can re-read favorites. This data remains on your device unless you enable iCloud sync.
Usage Analytics: We collect minimal anonymous usage data to improve the app (e.g., number of stories generated, feature usage). This data cannot be linked to your child's identity.
No Personal Information Required: Story prompts should contain only generic information like first names and general themes. Do not include:
Example of Safe Prompt: "Create a story about a brave girl named Lily who discovers a magical garden."
OpenAI: Story prompts are processed by OpenAI's GPT models to generate bedtime stories. OpenAI's API terms prohibit them from using API data to train their models. Review OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/privacy.
Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Authentication for account management (parent email only) and Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. Review Google's privacy policy at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Apple Services: The app uses StoreKit for in-app purchases and subscriptions, and optionally iCloud for syncing story favorites across your family's devices. Apple processes this information according to their privacy policy.
Local Storage: Story favorites and app preferences are stored locally on your device using secure iOS storage mechanisms. This data is encrypted by iOS when you have a passcode enabled.
Cloud Storage: Only the parent/guardian's email address and authentication tokens are stored in Firebase's secure infrastructure. If you enable iCloud sync, saved stories are stored in your family's private iCloud account.
Security Measures: All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). We implement secure authentication practices designed to protect children's data.
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
Nytely is designed for children under 13 to use with parental supervision. Account creation requires a parent or guardian email address. We encourage parents to read stories together with their children.
If you are using Nytely from outside the United States, please note that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and third-party service providers are located.
We do not display ads to children. We do not sell your child's data. We do not share your child's data with advertisers or data brokers.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Significant changes affecting children's privacy will be communicated to parents via email.
While Nytely generates age-appropriate bedtime stories, we encourage parents to review stories before reading them to young children. We implement content filters, but AI-generated content may occasionally produce unexpected results.
