Roameo is an exploration and adventure tracking app that encourages you to discover new places. This policy explains what data we collect and how we protect your privacy. Roameo is designed to keep your exploration data private and local.
Location Data: Roameo uses your location to track areas you've explored and to generate your exploration map. This location data is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit your location to our servers or share it with third parties.
Photos: When you take photos at locations, those images are stored locally on your device. Photos are not uploaded to any server unless you explicitly choose to share them through iOS sharing features.
Exploration History: Data about places you've visited, exploration milestones, and achievements are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This data remains private and under your control.
Camera Access: We use your device camera only when you choose to take photos at exploration spots. Camera access is not used in the background.
How We Use Location:
Background Location: If you grant "Always" location permission, Roameo can track your explorations even when the app is closed. This is optional and enhances the exploration tracking experience. You can choose "While Using" permission if you prefer to track only when the app is open.
Location Privacy: Your location data never leaves your device. We do not build location profiles or sell location data.

Local Storage: All exploration data, photos, and location history are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This data is encrypted using iOS's built-in device encryption when you have a passcode enabled.
iCloud Sync (Optional): If you enable iCloud for Roameo in iOS Settings, your exploration data syncs securely via your private iCloud account. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
No Cloud Servers: We do not operate any cloud servers or databases that store your exploration data.
Location: Required for core exploration tracking features. You can choose "While Using" or "Always" permission levels. You can revoke or modify this permission in iOS Settings at any time.
Camera: Optional, used only when you choose to photograph locations. Only accessed when you tap the camera button.
Photo Library: Optional, used only if you want to save exploration photos to your Photos library.
Roameo is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents should be aware that the app tracks location data (stored locally) and uses the camera.
Manual Sharing Only: You can choose to share exploration photos or achievements using iOS's built-in sharing features (Messages, Mail, social media, etc.). When you share, you control what is shared and with whom. We do not automatically share your exploration data with anyone.
Roameo works the same everywhere in the world. Since all data stays on your device, there are no international data transfer issues.
We do not display ads. We do not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell your data.
Location tracking, especially with "Always" permission, can impact battery life. You can minimize this by using "While Using" permission or by disabling location when not actively exploring.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated through the app if possible.
