Slangsnap is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. Our app helps you decode modern slang by processing text through AI, and we've designed our systems to minimize data collection and maximize your privacy.

Data Collection

Data We Collect

Text Submissions: When you submit slang phrases for decoding, that text is sent to OpenAI's API for processing. We do not store this text on our servers. OpenAI processes it according to their own privacy policy and API data usage terms.

Authentication Data: If you create an account, Firebase Authentication stores your email address and authentication credentials. This is used solely for account management and login purposes.

Usage Analytics: We collect minimal anonymous usage data to improve the app (e.g., number of translations performed, feature usage). This data cannot be linked back to you personally.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not store your slang queries or translation results
• We do not track your location
• We do not collect your contacts, photos, or other device data
• We do not collect browsing history or activity outside the app
• We do not create user profiles for advertising

Third-Party Services

OpenAI: Text you submit is processed by OpenAI's GPT models to generate slang explanations. OpenAI's API terms prohibit them from using API data to train their models. Review OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/privacy.

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Authentication for account management and Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. Review Google's privacy policy at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Apple Services: The app uses Apple's StoreKit for in-app purchases and subscriptions. Apple processes payment information according to their privacy policy.

Data Storage & Security

Local Storage: Most app data (preferences, settings) is stored locally on your device.

Cloud Storage: Only your email address and authentication tokens are stored in Firebase's secure cloud infrastructure.

Security Measures: All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). We implement secure authentication practices and regularly update our security protocols.

Your Rights

• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen
• You can request a copy of your data by contacting us at dinz@dinzzz.com
• You can opt out of analytics by disabling them in the app settings
• You can revoke app permissions in your device's iOS Settings at any time

Data Retention

• Authentication data is retained until you delete your account
• Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 14 months
• Text submissions are not stored by us and are processed ephemerally by OpenAI

Children's Privacy

Slangsnap is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

International Users

If you are using Slangsnap from outside the United States, please note that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers and third-party service providers are located.

Advertising and Tracking

We do not display ads. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or via email.
